Elkhorn grew up fast. Omaha annexed it in 2005 and the court fight wrapped up in 2007, and most of the building since has pushed west past 204th Street, places like Aerie Blue Sage and the newer subdivisions around 204th and F. The April 26, 2024 tornado made the point the hard way: an EF4 with 170 mph winds tore straight through Elkhorn west of 204th and damaged hundreds of homes, leveling some that were built to code.
